Song for a ghost

Trimming the fat

lyrics

The grass wasn’t greener,
nurturing your needs when you were the snake entangled within the weeds.
Shameful victim like a lamb to the slaughter.
Sinking to the bottom of your tepid karmic waters.
Devouring mother,
feeblest daughter.
Consumed by true guilt,
cursed by your name.
Stones of the father like Abel from Cain.
Left to wander.
Lost and alone.
Forever haunted upon a wretched pale throne.
Fevered and broken,
no place to call home.
A disgraceful harvest to reap what’s been sewn.
Drawn and quartered,
clever to bone.
Left out in the cold discarded and hollow.
Temptress of sorrow,
scraped clean of your marrow.
Your flesh bloating in sunshine in hues of purple and yellow.
The vultures hang heavy singing songs of the feast.
Shredding your torso from west to east.
Spilling your blood,
feeding the beast.
Innards fervently bursting piece by piece.
Screams of salvation from deep within your hide when the grass wasn’t greener on the other side.
